As we prepare to observe African Vaccination Week 2025, taking place from April 24 to 30, we reflect on the power of immunization to protect people of all ages against vaccine-preventable diseases.

This annual celebration aligns with World Immunization Week, underscoring the global commitment to immunization.

This year's theme, "Immunization for All is Humanly Possible," highlights the importance of collective action to ensure everyone has access to life-saving vaccines. The key objectives of African Vaccination Week 2025 are to:

- Raise Awareness: Highlight the life-saving power of immunization and promote vaccine awareness

- Increase Vaccination Coverage:Encourage governments to strengthen immunization programs and reach underserved communities

- Improve Health Outcomes: Reduce morbidity and mortality from vaccine-preventable diseases

ree

To achieve these objectives, key priorities for Africa have been identified, including:

- Reach Zero-Dose Children: Strengthen immunization delivery systems to reach children who have not received basic vaccines

- Sustain Immunization Financing: Ensure continued investment in immunization programs and vaccine development

- Strengthen Primary Health Care: Build resilient health systems to deliver vaccines and respond to global health threats

- Advance Local Vaccine Manufacturing: Support local production of vaccines to improve access and reduce dependence on external sources

- Foster Collaboration: Encourage partnerships between governments, global health organizations, and local manufacturers to achieve immunization goals

By working together, we can make immunization for all a reality and protect millions of lives from vaccine-preventable diseases. Let's join forces to bridge gaps in immunization coverage and strengthen health systems across Africa.
