Merck Foundation Celebrated Women's Day on the 8th of March together with the First Ladies from African and Asian countries in Accra Ghana on March 8.
The event reflected on 14 years of empowering women, supporting girls' education, and tackling critical health challenges in developing countries that Merck Foundation has been assisting in collaboration with First Ladies from the African and Asian countries.
The organisation's Chief Executive Dr Rasha Kelej emphasized the foundation's commitment to women's empowerment.
"At Merck Foundation, empowering women and girls is part of everything we do."
The foundation's impactful initiatives include the "More Than a Mother" campaign, breaking the stigma surrounding infertility and supporting women facing childlessness.

The foundation so far has awarded over 2,500 healthcare professionals from 52 countries, with nearly half going to women. "I am proud that of the 2500+ scholarships provided across 52 countries in 44 critical underserved specialities about 1 200 that is nearly 50% have been provided to women medical graduates" highlighted Dr Kelej.
She also pointed out that outstanding African women researchers and young scientists in STEM are also pursuing their research through the Merck Foundation Africa Research Summit (MARS) Awards.
Merck Foundation More than a Mother is aimed at empowering infertile and childless women through access to information,education,health,and change of mindset and through their scholarship program .
Merck Foundation is transforming the patient care landscape across Africa ,Asia through providing 2 500 scholarships for healthcare providers across 52 countries in 44 critical and underserved specialities.
